In attesa della presentazione della nuova maglia il mercato dello Swansea entra nel vivo con tre ufficialità che dovrebbero arrivare a breve: si tratta di Ethan Laird, terzino destro in arrivo dallo UTD in prestito gratuito; Oliver Ntcham, attualmente svincolato e Michael Obafemi del Southampton , per il quale i Gallesi hanno messo sul piatto 2 milioni di euro . In attacco lo Swansea non si fermerà qui dato che Russel Martin, in fase di programmazione, ha chiesto espressamente al suo direttore sportivo due punte. Il nome sul quale si sta lavorando è Leigh Griffiths , contratto in scadenza la prossima estate ma con il Celtic disposto a liberarlo a zero con un anno d'anticipo . Da battere c'è la concorrenza del Dundee ma, per il 30enne del Celtic, la prospettiva di poter tornare a giocare in Inghilterra , seppur in seconda serie , dovrebbe poter spianare la strada al club Gallese che punta proprio sul maggior fascino della destinazione per battere la concorrenza dei Tangerines. Sul fronte delle uscite l' indiziato numero uno per fare cassa è Matt Grimes, attuale capitano della squadra ma con il contratto in scadenza tra un anno . Su di lui sono forti Fulham e Watford con la richiesta degli Swans che si aggira sui 4-5 milioni di euro.

Swansea City has completed the signing of Ethan Laird on loan from Manchester United, subject to international clearance.
The 20-year-old defender will spend the remainder of the 2021-22 season at the Swansea.com Stadium, and will wear the number 27 shirt.



Laird has previous experience of playing under head coach Russell Martin, having spent the second half of last season on loan at MK Dons, where he made 25 appearances in all competitions.
He has been with Manchester United since the age of nine, and has two first-team appearances under his belt having featured in Europa League fixtures against Astana and AZ Alkmaar.
Laird will bolster Martin’s defensive options, and brings versatility given he is able to play as a wing-back, full-back or centre-back.

Swansea City has completed the signing of midfielder Olivier Ntcham, subject to international clearance and EFL approval.

Ntcham, capped by France at age-grade level up to the under-21s, was snapped up by Manchester City’s academy – where current Swans’ sporting director Mark Allen was director at the time - from Le Havre in 2012.

Aged just 16 when he made the move to the Etihad, Ntcham went on to spend two seasons playing in Serie A on loan at Genoa.

He made 40 appearances for Il Grifone as they finished 11th and 16th in the Italian top-flight.



A move to Celtic to work under former Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers followed in the summer of 2017, and Ntcham would quickly become a key figure in a period of utter domination for the Parkhead club.

He won eight trophies in three seasons under Rodgers and his successor Neil Lennon, made up of three Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish Cup and two Scottish League Cups.

Ntcham made 146 appearances in total for the Bhoys, scoring 24 goals and gaining considerable European experience in the Champions League and Europa League.

He had a short stint on loan at Marseille last term, before leaving Celtic at the end of the 2020-21 season.

Swansea City has completed the signing of Michael Obafemi from Southampton for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

Obafemi - who has put pen to paper on a three-year contract - had been set to join the Swans on loan in the January window earlier this year, only for injury to prevent the move from going ahead.
But he is now set to link up with Russell Martin’s squad in SA1, and will bolster the head coach’s forward options.
Obafemi started his career in Watford’s academy, but was released by the Hornets at the age of 13 and took a break from the game.



But his appetite was soon rekindled and, after a successful trial at Leyton Orient, he went on to join Southampton in 2016, where he starred for their under-18 and under-23 sides before signing a professional deal in 2019.
He has made 39 appearances for the Saints – with 32 of those coming in the Premier League – and has scored five goals, including strikes against Manchester United and Chelsea.
His first top-flight goal in a 3-1 win over Huddersfield in December 2018 made him the club’s youngest-ever scorer in the Premier League.
Obafemi has made one appearance for the south coast club this term, featuring as a substitute in their 8-0 Carabao Cup win at Newport.
